【生理活性】

 

薰衣草花穗的精油主要由乙酸芳樟酯(linalyl acetate)、芳樟醇(linalool)薰衣草醇(lavandulol)1,8-桉葉油醇(1,8-cineol)乙酸薰衣草酯 (lavandulyl acetate)和樟腦(camphor)這些成分組成#3Fakhari的研究#4指全株薰衣草精油含有成分為芳樟醇(32.8%)、乙酸芳樟酯(17.6%)、乙酸薰衣草酯(15.9%)α-松香醇(α-terpineol6.7%)、乙酸香葉酯(geranyl acetate5%)和薰衣草醇 (4.3%)

 

抗氧化

 

體外抗氧化檢測結果證明,薰衣草精油具有抗氧化力#5,且功效隨濃度上升而跟著增加,有線性關係#6。萃取方式的差異會影響薰衣草精油的抗氧化力,根據實驗結果,超臨界二氧化碳流體、己烷溶劑和蒸餾3種萃取方法比較,超臨界二氧化碳流體萃取的精油抗氧化力最高,己烷溶劑萃取最差#7

 

抗菌

 

薰衣草精油能破壞真菌細胞膜抑制多種皮膚相關致病菌的生長#12種生長在羅馬尼亞的薰衣草L. angustifolia MillerLavandula x intermedia經實驗證明,能有效抑制志賀氏桿菌(shigella flexneri)、金黃色葡萄球菌和大腸桿菌#3。一般認為薰衣草精油抑菌功效源於芳樟醇 和乙酸芳樟酯2成分,可是經分析後,L. angustifolia Miller精油的主成分是石竹烯(caryophyllene24.1%)β-水芹烯-phellandrene16%)和桉油醇(eucalyptol15.6%)Lavandula x intermedia的主成分則是樟腦(32.7%)和桉油醇(26.9%),這表示薰衣草抑菌性似乎有可能是綜合各成分所表現出的功效,而非總是幾種單獨成分所主導#3。另有研究比較不同萃取方式所獲得精油的抑菌效果,結果超臨界二氧化碳流體萃取方法最佳,己烷溶劑萃取的抑菌力最差,蒸餾萃取介於中間#7

 

抗癌

 

在口腔上皮癌細胞(KB)和小鼠血癌細胞(P388)的研究,實驗結果顯示薰衣草精油在口腔上皮癌細胞效果比抗癌藥5-氟尿嘧啶(5-Fluorouracil)好約4倍,但比另一抗癌藥文克斯汀(Vincristine)差約3倍;在小鼠血癌細胞時,則比文克斯汀差2倍,且比5-氟尿嘧啶差約70倍,而實驗中使用的第三種抗癌藥滅殺除癌錠(Methotrexate),在使用濃度下並未觀察到抑制癌細胞現象#8

 

傷口癒合

 

作者使用大鼠研究傷口癒合速度,他分別利用經皮神經電刺激(TENStranscutaneous electrical nerve stimulation)、食鹽水、優碘和薰衣草精油,結果顯示TENS和薰衣草精油比起其它組別,傷口癒合非常迅速#9。這裡提供一個傳說,1928年法國化學家Rene-Maurice Gattefoss在香水實驗室工作時,瞬間的爆炸灼燒他的手,他立刻把他的手放進薰衣草精油內,事後他很驚訝他的手竟然這麼快就好了#10

 

抗發炎

 

大鼠實驗結果指出,薰衣草精油可有效減少胸膜發炎現象,但若和抗發炎藥dexamethasone效果相比,各項指標還是差約2 - 4倍。而在小鼠耳朵腫脹發炎試驗,結果顯示口服或外用薰衣草精油皆能抑制腫脹,且效果和抗發炎藥dexamethasone相當#6

 

止痛

 

一些研究指薰衣草油壓對減少疼痛或失智沒有幫助。還有一些研究顯示薰衣草精油浴不能緩解因生產後導致的陰道和肛門疼痛,但也有其他文獻指薰衣草精油浴可馬上(12小時內)改善生產造成的疼痛#1。注射甲醛在大鼠會產生疼痛感,實驗發現若在注射前1小時口服薰衣草精油即能有效降低疼痛感,效果和止痛藥Tramadol相似,但不如另一止痛藥Indomethacin有效#6

 

【芳療功效】

 

配戴2%薰衣草精油鍊可有效緩解因關節鏡手術產生的疼痛,實驗顯示72小時後疼痛感從6.9降至1.8,對比空白組的6.43.5,有明顯功效,不過因發揮功效需較長時間,所以不建議使用在需即時止痛的情況#11。另一研究表示,噴灑0.3毫升100%薰衣草精油在皮膚上,可減少洗腎患者於療程中產生的疼痛感#12

 

根據研究,產後5日配戴含10滴薰衣草的精油鍊每天6小時可舒緩產後婦女的疲倦感#13,但也有其他研究發現,吸聞5%薰衣草精油10分鐘不能明顯改善洗腎患者的疲倦,作者認為此矛盾結論的可能因素眾多,包含薰衣草來源、疲倦測量依據、精油濃度和使用時間等#14。薰衣草精油搭配按摩能有效達到放鬆,可是根據實驗,實際上就算僅只有按摩也能消除疲憊,研究結果指出,按摩使用精油(薰衣草)和植物油(甜杏仁油)都能有效放鬆,但薰衣草精油明顯有加強按摩功效的能力,表現出的放鬆效果比使用甜杏仁油更出色#15

回顧多項關於吸聞薰衣草精油和睡眠品質的研究,經比較綜合各研究結果,吸聞薰衣草精油看起來對睡眠品質有輕微(small)到中度(moderate)不等的幫助#16。準備考試的學生吸嗅薰衣草精油後能減少焦慮感#17-18。圓形禿(alopecia areata)俗稱鬼剃頭,是其中一種禿頭。有研究表示,使用含薰衣草、百里香、迷迭香和雪松(cedarwood)混合的精油每日按摩頭皮持續7個月,約44%患者有效改善圓形禿#19

【料理應用】

 

在肉雞飼料中添加薰衣草粉能提升雞的食慾、降低飼料轉換率(每增加一單位體重所需吃的飼料量,越低越好),烹調時肉汁流失較少,且油脂氧化程度較低,三組不同添加量(0.3, 1, 1.7%)都能觀察到相同效果,其中以1%添加量表現最好#20。另外,使用薰衣草精油的研究也有相似結果#21。而若是改用其他品種頭狀薰衣草(Lavandula stoaches)精油添加於飼料內,結果發現雞胸肉明顯色澤變亮,且抗氧化酵素濃度增加#22

 

添加有頭狀薰衣草酒精萃取物(不含精油)且真空包裝的歐洲鯷魚,經112±1℃冰箱存放後,比起僅有真空包裝的組別,更能維持新鮮,且可減少游離脂肪酸產生#23。有研究使用蒸餾完精油的薰衣草殘渣加入麵包製程中,結果發現製出的麵包膳食纖維、多酚和黃酮類含量增加、抗氧化力和抑菌力上升、保存期更長#24

 

薰衣草花富含花蜜,適合製成高品質蜂蜜,地中海地區的薰衣草花蜜在全球市場都是當作高價產品販售,薰衣草花也常加工糖漬,裝飾在蛋糕或其他甜點,另外也能加進紅茶、綠茶或和其他香草混合,製成花草茶#1。國外有許多添加薰衣草的食品,例如飲料、調酒、優格、番茄醬、餅乾、果醬和酥餅等#2

 

適合和薰衣草一起料理的食材有烘焙類點心、鮮奶油、冰淇淋、卡士達、水果或蜜餞、蜂蜜、檸檬、馬鈴薯、糖以及雞、羊、牛等肉類。也可和迷迭香、香薄荷、百里香、奧勒岡多種香草混合使用。
